About Dr. Qiu

Qiong “Ruby” Qiu, NP, PhD, is a nurse practitioner serving patients at Generations Family Practice located in Cary, North Carolina. She enjoys meeting new patients, listening to their needs, and providing the best care possible. 

Ruby was born and raised in China, where she received her undergraduate training in medicine and master’s degree in immunology. Her desire for a greater understanding of diseases drove her to pursue a doctoral degree in biomedical sciences at the University of Texas-Houston Health Science Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

After graduating, she worked as a research scientist for more than a decade, leading and collaborating with others to conduct frontline research projects on aging at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and cancer research at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. 

Ruby started her nursing career after attending the ABSN program at Duke University School of Nursing. After working at Duke Raleigh Hospital for nearly five years on the medical-surgical floor, she earned a master’s degree through the adult-gerontology nurse practitioner program from Duke University School of Nursing. She also has a subspecialty in endocrinology.

Outside of the office, Ruby enjoys cooking and traveling. Currently, she’s learning how to plant and garden. Her previous attempts haven’t been very successful, but she’s excited to try again!
