What are same-day appointments?

Same-day appointments are medical visits you attend the same day as you schedule the appointment.

The Generations Family Practice team offers this service for patients who become ill, have unusual or alarming symptoms, or get injured and need immediate (same-day) care for a non-life-threatening emergency.

What are the benefits of same-day appointments?

The main benefit of same-day appointments is to help you feel better quickly and reduce the risk of more serious medical problems. For example, if you’re ill, getting same-day treatment can reduce your risk of getting very sick and requiring hospital care. 

Some injuries, such as large wounds that require stitches or fractures, may need same-day care to ensure proper healing.

What should I expect during my visit?

During same-day appointments at Generations Family Practice, your specialist checks your temperature, pulse, blood pressure, other vital signs, weight, and body mass index (BMI). 

If you're in pain because of an injury or other reasons, they first help you manage the discomfort. Family medicine providers also discuss your medication regimen, symptoms, and family and personal history of disease. 

They complete a physical examination to evaluate your eyes, ears, throat, heart, breathing, and more. If needed, your provider offers in-office X-rays, nasal or throat swabs, urine tests, blood tests, allergy or asthma tests, heart function testing, or other diagnostic tests.

Will I need treatment?

If you’re ill, injured, or have a disease that needs managing, Generations Family Practice specialists offer highly effective treatments. 

They provide fracture and wound care, medication prescriptions, inhalers, injections, breathing treatments, osteopathic manipulation, and specialist or hospital admission referrals if needed. Your provider may encourage you to rest at home and drink more fluids if you’re ill or wear a brace or cast if you have an injury.
